Do you enjoy kilometers of trips through nature or do you prefer a quiet detour in the neighborhood? From our vacation park in Akkrum you have all the space you need for a wonderful walking vacation in Friesland. Because of our location on the water, the routes are incredibly varied. You wander along the famous Frisian Lakeswind through green forests or walk through the characteristic streets of the Eleven Cities. Our vacation park is a fine home base for the active person who wants to relax on the waterfront after a busy day. Our vacation homes can accommodate a maximum of 14 personsso you can come to us with any group for a successful walking vacation in the Netherlands.

Hikes around our vacation park

Whether you go for a brisk day trip or a short walk around our park, the possibilities here are endless. For example, walk a stage of the famous 200 kilometer Elfstedentocht and discover the Frisian landscape while passing cities such as SneekBalk or Bolsward. National Park the Alde Feanen is also a must; here you can walk through a vast wetland. Do you prefer the woods? Then choose a route through Oranjewoud and walk between the meadows to the Belvedère Tower for a beautiful view of the region. Thanks to the extensive junction network you can easily map out the route that suits you.

    Ontdek de ruige moerasnatuur in dit Nationaal Park. De populaire 'Warkums Erf'-route is 6 kilometer lang en leidt u via vlonderpaden dwars door het riet en langs bijzondere vogelkijkhutten.

    Rondje Poelen & Meren (Terherne)

    Een prachtige waterrijke route van circa 8 kilometer rondom het bekende Kameleondorp. U wandelt over graspaden en geniet van weidse vergezichten over de Friese Meren.

    Historische Elfstedenetappe (Sneek – IJlst)

    Bewandel een officieel deel van de 'Tocht der Tochten'. Deze route van 12 kilometer voert u langs de iconische Waterpoort en door het schilderachtige Friese weidelandschap.

Your base during a walking vacation in the Netherlands

Nothing is better than coming home to a comfortable vacation home after a day full of new impressions. At our vacation park you have a wide choice of homes that will complete your walking vacation in Friesland. You can stay with us with groups of up to 14 people and in most cases your dog can come along too! Would you like extra luxury? Then choose a cottage with a view over the water or one with a private wellness. So you can relax after a long walk and be refreshed for the next day. At our park you can also rent a boat; did you know that a number of houses even have their own jetty? This allows you to put your own or rented boat easily in front of the door.

Are dogs allowed on the hiking trails in the area?

Friesland is a very dog-friendly province and on most hiking trails around Akkrum your faithful four-legged friend is welcome. In the nearby nature reserves, dogs are also allowed, provided they are leashed to protect birds and other animals. At the reception we are happy to tell you where to find the nicest off-leash areas nearby.

Can I start hiking right from the park?

Definitely! There are beautiful routes starting right at our vacation park. Highly recommended is the 'Summer route Akkrum'. During this walk you will pass special places, such as the wooden bell tower of Akmarijp. You will also walk through the Blauwgerzen nature reserve, a place full of birds, and you will pass Stork Village De Graverij, where you can admire these special birds up close.
